3 Benefits of Adding Rugs to Your Home Decor

0

Rugs are not a new concept; they have been used for warmth and decoration by people for centuries. When people talk about rugs, they often use “rugs” interchangeably with “carpets.” In truth, the two are similar, but not quite the same. The difference between a rug and a carpet is that carpets are usually fixed to the floor and span the whole length of the floor from wall to wall while rugs may be picked up and moved and generally only cover a portion of the floor. While rugs are pricier and may require you to send them of to an Atlanta rug cleaning and restoration service every year instead of simply running a vacuum over them here and there, they come with numerous benefits, three of which shall now be discussed.

  1. Comfortable

Rugs are more comfortable than wood or tile flooring. They are softer underfoot and absorb some of the impact of footsteps so that your feet experience less vibrations; this protects both your feet and the floor beneath the rugs. Rugs are also warmer than hardwood flooring, keeping the cold at bay.

  1. Quiet

In the same way that rugs soften the force of your feet pounding on the floor, they can also reduce noise level by muffling sound. Rugs make walking quieter and the home more peaceful.

  1. Aesthetically Pleasing

Rugs also add to the overall aesthetic appeal of a home. There are rugs to complement any style, and you are not stuck with any one pattern or color. Rugs can be replaced with considerably less effort than carpeting as suits your decorating whims. There is also a grounding effect imparted by rugs that make rooms feel more cozy and intimate.

Rugs can come at higher price tags and do necessitate more maintenance than hardwood. However, the advantages more than make up for the disadvantages, so consider trying out a rug or two the next time you feel the urge to redecorate.
